How to choose a garden office pod

The three decisions that matter most are size, roof style and insulation. For a single desk and a chair, a 2.4m x 2.4m or 2.5m x 2.0m pod (5-6m²) is plenty. Add a meeting chair, storage or a sofa bed and you want 3.0m x 2.5m to 3.5m x 3.0m. For an office that doubles as a garden room or gym, look at 4.0m x 3.0m and up. A soundproof pod is the pick for back-to-back calls.

Pent roofs keep the ridge height low, which matters for permitted development within 2m of a boundary. Apex and reverse-apex roofs give a vaulted ceiling inside and a more traditional look. Every pod here is insulated in the walls, floor and roof with double-glazed units, so it is genuinely usable in a British winter with a small heater - see running costs.

How much does a garden office pod cost?

A fully insulated garden office pod in the UK typically costs £3,000 to £15,000 supplied, depending on size, roof style and glazing. Our range starts under £3,000 for a 2.5m x 2.0m insulated pod and runs to around £12,000 for a 5m x 3m garden room. Professional installation is usually £900-£2,500 on top, and groundworks for a base £400-£1,500. See the full cost breakdown.

Do you need planning permission for a garden office pod?

In most cases no - a garden office is usually classed as permitted development if it is single storey, under 2.5m high within 2m of a boundary (or under 3m / 4m apex elsewhere), used for purposes incidental to the house, and covers no more than 50% of the garden. Listed buildings, conservation areas, flats and "designated land" have extra rules. Read the planning guide.

Are the pods fully insulated for winter use?

Yes. Every pod has insulation in the walls, floor and roof (45-70mm, or acoustic double-skin on soundproof models), double-glazed units and a thermally efficient door. With a 1-2kW electric heater or panel heater they stay comfortable through a British winter.

How long does delivery and installation take?

Lead time is typically 6-12 weeks from order depending on the model and season. Delivery to UK mainland is free with a booked slot. Professional installation on a prepared base usually takes 1-2 working days.

What base or foundation do I need?

A level concrete slab, paving, or a ground-screw / plinth foundation system. The base should match the pod footprint and be within roughly 10-15mm of level. We can arrange groundworks or supply a foundation kit.

Can I get finance for a garden office?

Yes - 0% and low-rate finance from 12 to 120 months is available at checkout, subject to status, with a soft-search application that does not affect your credit score.
