How a Garden Office Pod Is Built and Installed
From base check to a finished, wired garden office - the step-by-step process.
- Base check. The team confirms your slab, paving or ground screws are level and match the footprint.
- Floor. Treated bearers, insulated floor cassette and a moisture-resistant deck.
- Walls. Insulated timber-frame panels are stood and fixed, with a breather membrane outside and a vapour check inside.
- Roof. Insulated roof deck, then an EPDM rubber or shingle covering with concealed guttering.
- Cladding. Cedar, thermowood or painted cladding fixed on battens for a ventilated rain-screen.
- Glazing and door. Double-glazed windows and a composite or aluminium door, all sealed and adjusted.
- Inside. Plasterboard or MDF lining, skirting and trims, ready for you to paint.
- Electrics. Your electrician runs SWA cable from the house, fits the sub-consumer unit, sockets and LED panels, and issues the certificate.
- Handover. Snagging walk-round, keys, care guide and guarantee documents.
Most pods are installed in 1-2 working days once the base is ready. Prefer to build it yourself? Simpler pent-roof models are available as a self-assembly kit with full instructions.
